Balhannah/Oakbank Community Carols 2018 Vocalists

Ashleigh Jocks is a vocalist currently residing in the Adelaide Hills. After graduating from high school in 2015, she gained a position in the Jazz Performance degree at the Elder Conservatorium. In 2018, she received an award for Outstanding Soloist in the international DownBeat Music Awards. She was also named Top Voice Undergraduate at the Helpmann Academy Jazz Awards and performed alongside New York City jazz band “The Hot Sardines” earlier this year. Ashleigh is currently a lead vocalist in the show “Phoenix” produced by Spectak Entertainment which will present in the Adelaide Fringe 2019. Ashleigh is delighted to be part of Carols in the Park again for 2018.

Isabella Jenke is a student at St Francis de Sales College, where she is having singing lessons with Lisa Duffield. She is very involved in the music program at school and is captain of one of two choirs he is in. Earlier this year, St Francis de Sales Jazz choir competed at Generations in Jazz in Mount Gambier and did very well. Bella performed at Carols in the Park last year, and is super excited to be back and singing again!

Georgia Malchow is a second year university student with a passion for music, singing and performing. Through school and individually she has been involved in many community events and performances such as the Festival of Music, SAPPS Choir, Mt Gambier’s Generations in Jazz, Team Kids Webathon and the Mt Barker, Callington, Strathalbyn and Balhannah Carols. Whilst studying at university she has kept up with vocal lessons with Lisa Duffield and is in the process of preparing to perform at local venues.

Tayah Spencer is 14 years old and has been singing for seven Years. At age 9 Tayah won a spot in the South Australian Public Primary Schools Choir and enjoyed many fantastic experiences with this ensemble, including singing for the Prime Minister and supporting the Adelaide Anzac Day Memorial services. Now at Heathfield High School Tayah is a member of the Middle Years Choir, is the lead singer for two year 9 bands and is one of only two middle years students who have successfully auditioned and won a place in the Heathfield High School Senior Choir. Tayah’s ensemble and musical teacher describes Tayah as a hardworking and dedicated young vocalist who’s performances are well above her year 9 level .

Eliza Lovelock is fifteen and studies Stage 1 Music at St Francis de Sales College.  As a long-term Choir Captain of JazZone, and member of various ensembles at the college, including Musaic (directed by Lisa Duffield) and Heart’n’Soul (directed by Karen Redman), Eliza thrives in a performance environment.  She has studied voice under Lisa Duffield for several years, along with piano, and is aiming towards a future in musical theatre, particularly in comedy.  Along with her sister, Tilly, she enjoys performing and working with other people to make a great sound!

Matilda Lovelock is in Year 8 at St Francis de Sales College.  A keen Music student, Tilly studies Voice with Lisa Duffield, and is involved in numerous vocal ensembles at the College, including Musaic Senior Vocal and JazZone.  She also studies acoustic guitar and plays bass guitar with the St Francis de Sales College ensemble, Mixed Bag, under the guidance of Karen Redman.  Formerly a Choir Captain at the College, Tilly has only been singing solo performance in the last eighteen months, and often sings with her sister, Eliza.  In the future, Tilly intends to forge a career as a singer/songwriter.
